Online Driver Education

The Detroit Lakes Community Education is happy to be partnering with the A+ Driving School. A+ Driving School has designed their own fully online class platform made specifically for MINNESOTA STUDENTS. Their program is approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and utilizes proven teaching methods that keep the student engaged throughout the learning process.

Key Benefits:

  • Start classes anytime and take at your own pace up to 3 hours a day.
  • Classes are available On-Demand and are self-paced.
  • Entertaining "Live" classroom setting.
  • Minimal reading for students.
  • Free Study Guide to all students.
  • "Hands On" activities to reinforce information and get parents involved.
  • 24/7 instructor support.

The fee includes 30 hours of online classroom instruction and 6 hours of Behind-the-Wheel with a certified instructor. Students will pay a $20 activation fee at the start of the course.  If you do not receive an email with a code/link to begin the online course, please call Andrew Lesch at 218-847-4418, #6101.

Reminders: MN law states students must be at least 14 years old to enroll in Driver's Education. However, it is recommended that students be at least 14½ to take the 30-hour classroom instruction to help ensure they retain the material before taking the permit (knowledge) test at the age of 15.

Once your student has successfully completed the 30 hours of online classroom instruction, it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to contact Community Education to ensure the student is entered into the BLUE e-Card database. If the office is not notified, student will not show up in e-card database. Once the student has been successfully entered, you will receive an email confirmation from MN_DPS.

Community Education offers limited In-Person Classes. Please call our office for future offerings.
