Laker KidsThe Detroit Lakes School Age Child Care Program (Laker Kids) was designed to meet the needs of the area families. Our primary goal is to provide a safe, happy, and enriching supervised environment for your child(ren) and provide activities for learning and fun with a limited amount of structure. The activities planned by the Laker Kids staff emphasize development of educational and recreational skills. Although space is provided for students to do homework, we will not emphasize academic skills. Activities include recreation and gym time, games, outdoor time, crafts and creative play. The after school Child Care Program is for students in Full Day Preschool through Grade 5. The Summer Laker Kids program is for students entering Kindergarten-5th grade!Child Care Program -
Little Lakers School ReadinessWelcome to Little Lakers! 2026-2027 registration opens Jan 2 The school readiness program emphasizes activities in all areas of growth and learning. Implementation of research-based curriculum teaches children to initiate, discover, experiment, create, problem-solve, and resolve conflicts as they learn. This approach enhances each child's growth in the foundations of academics as well as in social-emotional, physical, and creative areas. We promote on-going communication and partnerships with families, along with discussion of development at fall and spring conferences. Classes will be held at Rossman (RSM) and Roosevelt (RVT) Elementary Schools, and follow the school calendar. Tuition/participation fees are monthly or through arranged payments. Please inquire about tuition assistance. Notification of enrollment: Please note, filling out the registration does not automatically enroll your child. Watch for an acceptance email toward the beginning of February. Once you receive confirmation of acceptance through email, there will be a $40 registration fee to hold your spot. If classes fill, we keep a wait list and notify families when openings come up. All families are encouraged to apply as wait lists can change frequently. Applications are accepted on-going.
