Laker KidsThe Detroit Lakes School Age Child Care Program (Laker Kids) was designed to meet the needs of the area families. Our primary goal is to provide a safe, happy, and enriching supervised environment for your child(ren) and provide activities for learning and fun with a limited amount of structure. The activities planned by the Laker Kids staff emphasize development of educational and recreational skills. Although space is provided for students to do homework, we will not emphasize academic skills. Activities include recreation and gym time, games, outdoor time, crafts and creative play. More Information for Summer 2025 will be sent to parents at the beginning of May.Child Care Program

Little Lakers School ReadinessWelcome to Little Lakers! Our school readiness program emphasizes activities in all areas of growth and learning. Research-based High Scope curriculum, implemented in classes, teaches children to initiate, discover, experience, and learn about ideas, events, and people. Children will create, experiment, problem-solve, and resolve conflicts as they learn. This approach enhances each young person's growth in the foundations of academics as well as in social-emotional, physical, and creative areas. The development of each child is discussed with parents/guardians. The program includes a diverse grouping of children reflective of our community and inclusive with early childhood special education. Classes run September to May. Tuition/participation fees are monthly, through arranged payments, or may be reduced or waived depending upon your financial situation. Notification of enrollment: We begin notifying families in mid February and on-going. Once you receive confirmation of acceptance, there will be a $30 fee to hold your spot. If classes fill, we keep a wait list and notify families when openings come up. All families are encouraged to apply as wait lists change frequently. Applications are accepted on-going.
